St. Lucia Hewanorra International Airport (UVF)
History, Facts and Overview

(Vieux Fort, St. Lucia)

Established as a military airfield during the Second World War, St. Lucia's Hewanorra Airport was used extensively by the US Air Force until the late 1940s.

At this stage it was handed to the local government, who decided to use the airport for commercial flights. After this stage, growth was slow, but steady, and today Hewanorra Airport is capable of handling the largest of the jumbo jets and modern air buses.

A bank offering a variety of financial services including bureau de change can be found in the terminal, as well as a single ATM. St. Lucia Hewanorra Airport also offers duty-free shopping next to the passport control area, a number of cafes, and several gift stores.

The airport itself has no onsite business facilities, although the nearby Skyway Inn will meet most requirements.
